The redesigned COLLIDE-2 Impactor Box Systems (IBS) were vibration tested March 14, 2000
fully loaded with JSC-1 target dust.  This vibration test revealed a number of leaks from the
dust target tray. These leaks will be fixed and the IBS's retested in April.  Below are some
images of the IBS's following the shake test.  You can see small piles of dust outside the IBS's
near the doors, and the air-venting filters have been darkened by micron-sized particles
leaking through the filters.

The COLLIDE-2 IBS's on the shake table at Ball Aerospace in Boulder.  Dust is visible
on the circular shake plate below each door (which has protective yellow kapton tape).

The air-venting filter at the back of this IBS shows the filter (visible through 16
circular holes) has been darkened by leaking micron-sized dust.

A large amount of dust leaked out of IBS 3 (on the right) and is visible near the leg
underneath the door mechanism.
