Morning Session:  Extrasolar Planets and What They mean for Planetary Formation
8:15 Bus picks up folks at the Millenium
8:30 Overview/Introduction (John Bally)
8:45-9:45 How common are habitable planets? (with 15 min for Q & A) (Sean Raymond)
Almost all known extrasolar planets are large, Jovian planets. Many are ‘hot Jupiters” (or medium-hot Jupiters) because they are the easiest to find with the Doppler method. Under what circumstances might we expect habitabl planets to occur?
9:45-10:15 Break
10:15-11:15 What do extrasolar planets tell us about planet formation? (with 15 minutes for Q&A)
(Jack Lissauer) Fifteen years ago, no one would have expected hot Jupiters in sub-AU orbits.  What new ideas of solar system formation and development does that discovery point to?
11:15-12:00 Panel Discussion (Bally, Raymond, Turnbull and Lissauer)
12:00-1:00 Lunch (Catered at LSTB)

Afternoon Session:  The history of discovery of extrasolar planets – the role of technological evolution
1:00- 1:15 Overview/Introduction (Alan Boss)
1:15- 2:00 Early discoveries of extrasolar planets (Alan Boss)
2:00- 2:45 Techniques used to look for ESP – radial velocity, astrometry, direct detection, gravitational lensing (John Bally)
2:45-3:00 Break
3:00-3:45 Transits and the Kepler Mission (Borucki)
3:45-4:30 The next ideas for ESP discovery (Cash)
4:30-5:15 Panel Discussion (Boss, Cash, Borucki, Bally)
5:20 Bus will take participants back to hotel
6:20 Bus will take participants from hotel to dinner
6:30- 10:00 Cocktails, Dinner at Dolan’s Restaurant
Sunday, January 28
8:15 Bus picks up folks at the Millenium
8:30- 9:45 Habitability: Looking for life in the universe (with 15 minutes for Q&A) (Turnbull)
Where in the universe might we expect to find life?  This session will start with what we know about life on Earth and explore the limitations and possibilities of life on other worlds throughout the universe.
9:45- 10:00 Break
10:00- 11:15 Kepler:  How NASA missions develop (Borucki)
11:15- 12:30 Panel Discussion (Everyone)
12:30 Bus takes everyone back to Hotel
