Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics
The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) develops, designs, and builds instrument and spacecraft for NASA’s space-based observations of the Sun, Earth, and planets. We are seeking a dynamic financial professional to aid LASP faculty in managing sponsored research programs.
Primary duties will include:
- Function as financial program manager for one or more complex, multiyear projects. This includes serving as liaison with NASA and other project sponsors on financial matters, working closely with engineering managers and scientists to provide data analysis, track costs, and advise project leads. With project managers, schedulers, & subcontractors, determine program status, develop detailed budgets and forecasts; meet funding agency requests for program information; understand variances; work to keep program on schedule and in budget.
- Prepare management reports, including Earned Value reports; respond to other special reporting requirements; approve transactions for compliance with funding agency, CU, and LASP requirements. Work with internal and external personnel in a collaborative manner. Assist as necessary in implementation of earned value system at LASP.
- Review contracts to insure regulatory compliance and identify outstanding issues. Provide management information and recommendations to principal investigators and Project Managers for decision-making regarding the use of their resources as well as facilitating processing both inside CU and with outside groups.
- Other duties as assigned to facilitate continuity within project financial related activities at LASP.
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience that includes five to ten years professional experience related to the primary duties above required. Extensive direct experience with Microsoft Excel using advanced functions required; experience with Earned Value a plus. Demonstrated ability to anticipate, research and solve problems through careful attention to detail and analysis in an independent work environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be collaborative, self-directed, able to handle multiple tasks and priorities, and meet deadlines from daily details to managerial analysis.
