Mechanical Engineering Graduate Research Assistant

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) is a world-renowned space science research institute at the University of Colorado at Boulder. In the engineering division, professional engineers and mentored students work closely with scientists in designing and building space flight hardware.
LASP’s Mechanical Engineering Department has an opening for one graduate student to design, create SolidWorks drawings, and oversee design fabrication through the production process of hardware, ground support equipment, and text fixtures for NASA flight programs. Graduate Assistants will also write fabrication assembly instructions and test procedures for mechanisms and assemblies. The ideal candidate is a current graduate student in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or an undergraduate senior who plans to attend grad school next fall. Required coursework – Mechanical Design, Statics, Materials, SolidWorks or other CAD software. Working knowledge of ANSYS or FEMAP / NASTRAN is a plus. The time commitment is 20 hrs/wk minimum as required by GRA standards during the school year and full-time over the summers. Tuition remission will be applied as per Graduate School policy.
