The production manager is responsible for overseeing the workflow for manufacturing and assembly of spaceflight hardware for LASP, and is the point of contact for the manufacturing and assembly process within the organization. This individual monitors and directs the production work, and actively interfaces with the project managers and project schedulers within the organization to develop and carry out the production schedule for flight programs. The production manager supervises the production staff. The direct responsibilities of the position include management of the work order database, management of the interface with outside vendors involved in the production effort, and the organization of documentation pertaining to the manufacturing and production processes. The production manager chairs the weekly production planning meeting with project managers, and maintains LASP’s production schedule.

LASP’s Solar Influences group has an opening for a summer appointment of one graduate student to work on the physical modeling of the solar radiation that is carried by the Solar Influences group. The selected person will have a broad interest in the solar radiation and its effects on Earth, as well as a specific interest on the physical processes that produce and transmit electromagnetic radiation in the Sun and Earth upper atmosphere.

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) is a world-renowned space science research institute at the University of Colorado at Boulder. In the engineering division, professional engineers and mentored students work closely with scientists in designing and building space flight hardware.
LASP’s Mechanical Engineering Department is looking for an undergraduate student to create SolidWorks fabrication drawings of space-flight hardware and ground support equipment for NASA flight programs as well as fabrication assembly instructions and test procedures for mechanism testing. The ideal candidate is an undergraduate student who is at least 2 years away from graduation in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. This position requires a minimum 3.3 GPA and CAD experience. The time commitment is a minimum of 10 hrs/week during school and full time during the summer.
