IT RESEARCH SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR (ITRSA080509)The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) develops, designs, and builds instrument and spacecraft for NASA's space-based observations of the Sun, Earth, and planets. LASP has built instruments and participated in missions to every planet in the solar system. LASP supports over 160 grants and contracts, spending around $50M annually. We are seeking a dynamic IT professional to work directly with scientific and engineering personnel on multiple research missions and programs and to design and support a heterogeneous computing environment. Primary duties will include:Provide technical support of Microsoft Windows systems administration to further the science and engineering research missions of LASP. Configure, support, and perform routine maintenance of hardware and software for Windows servers and their associated storage devices such that research program requirements are met. Configure, support, and perform routine maintenance on desktop workstations. Coordinate system events with end users. Assist in the development of procedures that affect the operation and use of information technologies. Work as part of a team to accomplish larger tasks. Diagnose and troubleshoot escalated support calls from scientists and engineers. Provide direct support services to end users with technical problems or issues involving system performance, configuration, restoration, applications and software tools. All work performed is within a complex, multi platform environment and may occasionally require extended hours and/or 7x24 availability to provide support. Must be knowledgeable in management of:
