Research Scientists and/or Senior Research Scientists are sought for research faculty positions at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) of the University of Colorado, Boulder. LASP is actively engaged in development of several new projects including research on solar radiation, space plasma, planets,
atmospheric sciences, and others. LASP will establish requirements for these new investigations; and will design and build the instruments, test and calibrate them, and operate them in space. Candidates for these positions should be prepared to fully participate in all phases of one of these experiments. He/she should have a strong experimental background in optics, spectroscopy, and instrumentation, and a familiarity with spaceflight hardware. Research emphasis will include the development of state-of-the-art optical systems, detectors and associated electronics. In addition, LASP has several ongoing programs and the successful candidate is invited to participate in scientific analysis and interpretation of data from these earlier programs.
Requirements (Research Scientist):
- PhD or equivalent in a physical science
- Experience in the design, calibration and characterization of optical instrumentation.
- Experience in space experimentation is desirable. (aircraft or balloon experience may substitute)
- A record of publications in refereed journals commensurate with the applicant's research experience showing originality and creativity.
- Knowledge of solar physics, planetary science, space physics, atmospheric sciences or astrophysics.
Additional Requirements (Senior Research Scientist):
- Demonstrated experience extending over a period of at least seven years with a corresponding record of publication.
- Proven record of leadership and independent research.
- Experience in supervising and coordinating research.
Application to include:
- Curriculum vitae
