We are proud to report that our NASA Solar System Exploration Research Virtual Institute (SSERVI) proposal for continuing our lunar institute as the “Institute for Modeling Plasma, Atmospheres, and Cosmic Dust (IMPACT)” has been approved. Our new website can be found here: IMPACT
IMPACT will join 8 other teams with international partners to explore scientific questions regarding the moon, near-Earth asteroids, the Martian moons Phobos and Deimos, and their near space environments.
Highlights of previous work include:
- Experimental and theoretical investigations of dusty plasma and impact processes
- The development of new instrument concepts for future in-situ dust and plasma measurements on the surface of and in orbit around the Moon
- A complementary education and community development program
