Sea ice from space

These images demonstrate the incredible change in sea ice cover on the Arctic Ocean. It has decreased by about 1.6 million square kilometers in this 23 year time period. NASA’s ICESat satellite is currently measuring both the thickness and the extent of the Arctic Sea ice from space.
