Great day today on the SDO EVE commissioning front – all 4 EVE doors were successfully opened and then we proceeded in getting first solar light observations. The EVE data are looking great, and the Sun even provided a C2 class flare during the first hour of observations for EVE. Exciting time for the EVE team – thanks to all at LASP, USC, and MIT for making this wonderful EVE instrument. We still have lots of special calibration tests planned during the next several weeks. We’re looking forward to starting normal operations by May, and also the first EVE calibration rocket flight from White Sands, NM is planned for May 5.
