First playback of stored data!
June 9, 2016
The spacecraft is generating engineering and science data all the time. It stores that data into an onboard SD card. Since we don’t have constant radio contact with the spacecraft, we instead command the spacecraft to transmit some fraction of the data stored on the SD card. We just did that for the first time today. We downlinked the last 24 hours of data. There were a couple of C class flares in the last 24 hours and we’ll be zeroing in on the times of those flares to go back and playback the data at full cadence (10 seconds for the primary science instrument).
