Getting to Boulder from Denver International Airport (DIA)
Bus: (Probably the easiest and cheapest way)
- AB Bus (local bus route) will take you from DIA to the Boulder Transit Center (was $10.50 each way, check website for current cost, pay stations at DIA and the Transit Center). The Transit Center (basically bus station) is just one block south of Pearl Street. You can look up the schedule for the AB bus here.
- To select the schedule heading west from the airport to Boulder, select “Westbound” and to select the schedule heading east from Boulder to the airport, select “Eastbound”. Heading into Boulder, you most likely want to get off at the Boulder Transit Center stop, but there are a few stops in Boulder before that. Heading back out to the airport, you’re going all the way to the Denver Airport Station.
- They have plenty of room to put suitcases and will put them on / take them off for you!
Taxi Services:
- Lyft or Uber are always options for travel, but depending on the time of day, could run you anywhere from 50-100 dollars each way.
- Taxi from the airport is also an option, but likely ~$100 each way. If you wish to get a taxi from Boulder Transit Center to the hotel, the local taxi number is 303 777 7777. (As a warning, the operator refuses to acknowledge the existence of Boulder Transit Center nor a bus station, so give them the nearest corner, 15th & Walnut, this is the north east corner of the block, opposite the Post Office).
- Super Shuttle or Green Ride from the airport direct to your hotel (about $40-80 each way)
Car: It’s a 45-min drive from DIA to Boulder, there is no need to take a toll road. Basic directions:
- From Denver International Airport, (8500 Peña Boulevard, Denver, Colorado) head South (.05 miles) and take the ramp onto Peña Blvd (11.4 miles)
- Merge onto I-70 W (4.6 miles)
- Slight right onto I-270 W (signs for Fort Collins)(5.8 miles)
- Continue (same road, different name) onto US-36 W (20 miles)
- As you enter Boulder on the US-36 (when the speed limit drops) you’ll come to a set of traffic lights (junction with Colorado Avenue). Go straight on and the Millennium hotel is on your left before you reach the next set of traffic lights, there’s a crossing you can take across the central reservation.

Getting Around Boulder
Bus:
Boulder has a wonderful public transportation system, with an array of buses to take you around Boulder. You can buy day passes or one-way rides at the Downtown bus station, or pay with cash getting onto the bus. Warning: They cannot give change on the bus and a one-way ride is $2.60. Good way to get rid of loose change in your wallet (just make sure you have enough!). You can also buy ticket packs to rideRTD Pricing Here.
- Discovery Express – A bus provided by CU that takes you from main campus to 3 stops around east campus.
- Monday – Thursday: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday – 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Does not run on weekends
- Hop – One of the most useful buses around boulder, taking you to main campus, Pearl Street, and 29th Street Mall. A continuous loop in both directions (clockwise and counterclockwise) every day of the week.
- Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. – 10 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.
- Sunday/holidays: 10 a.m – 6 p.m.
- Bound – North-south bus line that will take you up and down 30th Street, down to Sprouts and up to 29th Street Mall.
- Monday – Friday: 5:30 a.m. – 12 a.m.
- Saturday – 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
- Sunday – 9 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.
- Stampede – Another useful bus route – now part of the CU Buff Buses (Not RTD), going from main campus to east campus & beyond. Runs only on weekdays.
- Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
NOTE: Putting your destination into Google Maps will also show you bus routes, just click the little bus in the transport options. It can also approximate the next bus arrival time and tell you how to get to the bus stop/to your destination from the bus stop with walking directions.
