Mariner Mars 1971 (MM71)aka Mariner 9 (M9) Ultraviolet Spectrometer (UVS) Raw Data
This site provides access to all of the UVS raw Experimenter Data Records (EDRs) and Supplemental EDRs (SEDRs) produced for the entire 1971-2 Mars mission. Some general information is also provided.
A site containing reflectance processing of the best mission data is at http://lasp.colorado.edu/mars. This site provides an interactive visualization tool combined with camera images and UVS calibrated data sets.
A brief science description and spacecraft photo are available at http://lasp.colorado.edu/programs_missions/past/mariner9.html.
The Planetary Data System (PDS) also has extensive archives of the UVS and other instrument data sets from MM71. See http://pds.jpl.nasa.gov/.
JPL Technical Memorandum 33-585, Volumes I and II, provides extensive information regarding orbit science planning, scan platform pointing and mapping sequence timing. Some science planning information from this document is provided here (Copies are available electronically from JPL Archives at http://beacon.jpl.nasa.gov/, or call 626-449-1593). A sample is shown in Information below.
Some SPICE kernel formatted geometry information is available from the NAIF (Navigation and Ancillary Information Facility) site at http://pds.jpl.nasa.gov/naif.html
Funding for this work has been provided by NASA contract NAG5-9590 and by LASP general funding.
