• CU Geology professor Bruce Jakosky's MAVEN mission was selected as the 2013 mission to the Red Planet. MAVEN will measure the Martian atmosphere and study the processes of past and current atmospheric loss. Several of the mission instruments will be built at LASP, which will also conduct the science operations for the mission. Dan Baker, Nick Schneider, Bob Ergun, and Fran Bagenal are also part of the MAVEN team.



• The New Horizons spacecraft recently imaged Jupiter and its moons on its journey to Pluto. CU Astrophysics and Planetary Sciences professor Fran Bagenal is a Co-Investigator and students at LASP built one of the instruments.
