Design Drawings

PRIMER: This is the apparatus which will test some of the basic components of PRIME as well as provide preliminary investigation into the behavior of granular materials in the environment of the KC-135.

Ground-based test 1: Image of ejecta from a ground-based drop test into JSC-1 at just under 2 m/s impact speed in vacuum. (21170 bytes.)
Ground-based test 1, processed: Same image as above, color-enhanced to highlight ejecta illuminated by a laser sheet shining perpendicularly to the camera view.  Laser pulses are 1 msec in duration at 10 msec intervals. (257034 bytes.)
Ground-based test 2: Image of ejecta from a ground-based drop test into JSC-1 at just under 2 m/s impact speed in vacuum showing ejecta illuminated in two laser pulses. (553548 bytes.)
