These web pages provide information about classroom experiments planned for a few of the Boulder Valley School District third grade classes as part of our NASA Educational Outreach Program (EOP). This EOP started in 1997 at the Bear Creek Elementary School, High Peaks Elementary School, and Creekside at Martin Park Elementary School. This program is supported by the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado (CU). This experiment is sponsored by the NASA Space Science Division as a Ionospheric, Thermosphere, Mesosphere suborbital program.

Experiment Information

Light of Many Colors Experiment: The third grade classes learned about light as part of a classroom experiment. Click on the experiment title above to learn more about this experiment.
Internet Warmup: The third grade classes will learn more about space research through an organized browse of the internet.
Temperature / Pressure Experiment: The third grade classes will use the Boulder Valley School District FOSS experiment set to learn about temperature and pressure. Click on the experiment title above to learn more about this experiment.
Solar Oven Experiment: The third grade classes will learn about heat from sunlight as part of a classroom experiment. Click on the experiment title above to learn more about this experiment.
Flight Instruments: The third grade classes will experiment with their pressure and temperature instruments that will fly in August 1998 on a NASA sounding rocket payload.
