The AIA instrument has as one of its goals to determine the quantity of material at coronal temperatures for a variety of solar regions. AIA will have an unprecedented combination of spatial, spectral and temporal resolution for meeting this objective. We will discuss the requirements which must be met for high-quality DEM determinations, the methods that will be available as part of the SDO analysis software for analyzing the AIA data, and the expected quality of AIA DEM reconstructions.
