TIM Anomalies During Previous Week
None.
Summary:
Instrument was planned to be in normal mode of
operation:
·
ESR Table scans (High and Low scripts)
·
24-min scans
·
Servo gain calibrations
·
Prism transmission calibration modes
·
Cruciform alignments
·
CCD image light and image dark
·
Fixed wavelength
·
IR scans
·
SIM cold temperature
·
Planning of new table scan mode complete will commence
next week.
·
With the slower shutter cycle and longer intergration
SIM Anomalous Behavior:
None to report. The
solar flare activity of this week did not adversely affect SIM operations. The SIM cold test performed as scheduled, but
SIM did not cool to the low set point of 11 C.
Minimum SIM temperature reached 13 C.
The data is still useable but will require more careful analysis.
SIM Plans for Next Week:
·
Normal ops with start of modified ESR table scans.
SOLSTICE Operations:
Normal Solar-Stellar
operations continue. Solar FOV maps and additional Stellar Alignments were
completed last week. A large solar flare
that erupted on 10/28 was seen in Hi, SiIII, and MgII.
SOLSTICE Current
Status:
XPS Summary
XPS made several normal solar observations this past
week. The Sun has been very active the
past two weeks, and XPS has recorded several flares since day 2003/292. XPS was observing during the rise and fall of
the extremely large X-17 flare on day 2003/301.
This large flare increased by a factor of 25 in the XUV and by a factor
of 2 at Lyman-alpha.
XPS Calibration Status
No new issues.
XPS Anomalous Behavior
XPS had 5 anomalous GCI errors last week, but they did not
affect instrument operations.
XPS General Concerns:
No new issues.

·
New SORCE
Total Solar Irradiance data products have been delivered to the DAAC, and are
also available from the SORCE web site (http://lasp.colorado.edu/sorce/data_access.html). These data have a version number of 1, and
contain a new dark correction algorithm which accounts for instrument day/night
thermal differences, as well as a linearity correction to the applied ESR
power. Data have been released from
6.3. SOLSTICE

SOLSTICE MUV
Data are being reprocessed following resolution of the previously-reported
problem with the application of the exit-plane filter transmission
·
A few software
bug fixes are being made to improve the robustness of the data processing
software.
·
Examination of
science products is underway to verify the quality and correctness of the data.
·
Examination of
wavelength shift results continues, in an effort to better understand the
behavior of the SOLSTICE instruments, and to verify the quality of the data
that are now being produced by the science processing system.
