The Solar Wind

The three most outer layers of the Sun are known as the photoshpere, the chromoshpere, and the corona. The solar wind is an extension of the corona. This wind is comprised of ionized gas with velocities between 300 km/sec to 100 km/sec, depending on the level of activity of the Sun. Ionized particles contained in the wind have energies of a few thousand electron volts (for protons)
