Linnea Avallone is a professor in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences and the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics.  She is also Faculty Director of the Miramontes Arts and Sciences Program (MASP), an academic excellence program for underrepresented students in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Dr. Avallone is an atmospheric chemist who specializes in the design and development of instrumentation for measuring atmospheric traces gases, especially from airborne platforms. Her research group is routinely involved in measurement campaigns related to upper tropospheric and lower stratopsheric chemistry and cloud formation.

Dr. Avallone enjoys teaching courses in atmospheric chemistry, instrumentation, the relationship between science and public policy and atmospheric science topics for non-science majors.  She is also passionate about inclusive education and is involved with several initiatives to foster diversity among students and faculty.
