Welcome to the Atmospheric Radiation Group at the University of Colorado Boulder

The Atmospheric Radiation Group (ARG) at the University of Colorado specializes in making airborne and ground-based measurements of irradiance and interpreting the data to determine the impact of clouds, aerosol articles, and surface reflectance on the radiative energy budget and to derive cloud and aerosol particle properties. Our interests include using in situ measurements and satellite observations to relate variability in bulk radiative parameters to microphysical and chemical origins and studying the impact of solar spectral variability on the atmospheric and surface radiative energy budget. Members of ARG are affiliated with the University of Colorado, the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP), and the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (ATOC).

Sun-Climate Research Center
The Atmospheric Radiation Group has common interests with the Sun-Climate Research Center (SCRC). The SCRC, formed in fall 2010, is a collaboration between the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and LASP and focuses on research areas such as how solar variations shape Earth’s atmosphere and climate.
