Following the largest magnetic storm in 20 years (May 10, 2024), REPTile-2 onboard NASA’s CIRBE satellite discovered two new radiation belts containing 1.3–5 MeV electrons around L=2.5–3.5 and 6.8–20 MeV protons around L=2. NASA had a brief new release about the discovery of the new electron belt. See the following links:
