Abstract

Next year, 2027, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the launch of the Voyager spacecraft. Both Voyagers flew past Jupiter and Saturn, then Voyager 2 went on to fly past Uranus and Neptune. We present a review of what was learnt from the Voyagers about the magnetospheres of these planets, summarize what has been learned since at Jupiter and Saturn from subsequent missions, and list the outstanding questions.
