Abstract

In this friendly seminar I’ll recap several recent publications on Jupiter’s magnetosphere, and fill-in a few topics raised in recent Jupiter FOMs that I’ve heard people ask. Jupiter’s magnetosphere is enormous, yet I’ll show observations of an unexpectedly tiny Jovian magnetosphere. There are different ways to obtain plasma parameters from Juno JADE count data, I’ll show my preferred ways, including obtaining plasma parameters from Juno JADE heavy ions by simultaneously fitting two datasets. I’ll present some results from that, including unforeseen flows.  We’ve also been reexamining Voyager plasma data at Uranus and Neptune, and looking at how to make planetary magnetic field models at the outer planets more useful. I’ll summarize those works and share some lessons learned.
