Black Array of Broadband Absolute Radiometers
The Black Array of Broadband Absolute Radiometers (BABAR) Earth Radiation Imager (ERI) instrument is a development project awarded under NASA's Earth Sciences instrument incubator program. Projected completion is 2023.
BABAR is a novel instrument designed to measure broadband, outgoing radiation from Earth in a compact (low mass, volume and power) package with the same high accuracy and high spatial resolution as bigger instruments. BABAR will use an electrical substitution microbolometer array for imaging.
