Cosmic Dust Experiment

The Cosmic Dust Experiment (CDE) instrument is one of three instruments aboard AIM. It is designed to monitor the variability of the cosmic dust influx into Earth’s mesosphere. This allows scientists to see how cosmic dust plays a role in the formation of Polar Mesospheric Clouds (PMCs). The CDE instrument is no longer operational.
