Orb-3 Antares rocket explodes

October 30, 2014

antares_explosion.jpg.CROP.original-originalOn October 28, 2014 the Orbital Sciences 3rd launch of the Antares rocket with the Cygnus capsule to resupply the International Space Station exploded seconds after lift off. It was dramatic and painful to watch. It was unmanned, but there were many CubeSats onboard. We know all about the countless hours that students and professionals put into these things, so we understand how heartbreaking this is.

This is the same rocket that MinXSS is slated to launch on in April 2015 (Orb-4). We do not yet know how this catastrophic event will impact us. As we learn more, this newsfeed will be updated.

More information about the Orb-3 explosion (including video) can be found here.
