EMM

Emirates Mars Mission

UAE's first interplanetary mission to Mars

The Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) is the United Arab Emirates (UAE) first mission to Mars. EMM is an orbiter that is designed to study the dynamics in the Martian atmosphere on a global scale, due to a high orbit. The mission’s scientific goal is to provide an unprecedented global view of the Martian atmosphere in order to reveal the interconnections between different regions, times of day, and altitudes. The spacecraft, which is about the size of a small car, was built at LASP, and is lead by an international team of UAE, LASP, and other scientists. The Emirates’ education goal for the mission is to provide knowledge transfer to the next generation of Emirati scientist and engineers through a hands-on learning environment and knowledge-transfer program.
