CubeSats

State-of-the-art small satellite technology

LASP is an established leader in engineering small satellites, with science returned on all missions to date.

Our engineers have a proven record of successfully miniaturizing a range of scientific instruments, including a unique rectangular telescope for NASA’s CUTE CubeSat. Extensive testing of individual and integrated systems, plus in-house expertise building satellite buses, are just some of the reasons why we stand among the leaders of the SmallSat revolution.

LASP’s heritage and expertise encompass all aspects of design, analysis, fabrication, calibration, system integration, testing, and operation of small satellites for space-science missions. Built in standard units (U) of 10 x 10 x 10 cm, our SmallSats range in size from 3U, 6U, and 12U up to ESPA (EELV Secondary Payload Adapter) class small explorers.

Our in-house CubeSat expertise includes:

  • Science instruments
  • Spacecraft structures
  • Electrical power systems
  • Command and data handling
  • Flight software
  • Attitude determination and control systems
  • Communication systems
  • Thermal control systems
  • CubeSat flight operations
