Hi there I have updated the plans for days 86-90 in order to get extended viewing periods of comet Hale-Bopp. With the help of DSN we are hoping to be able to hold a press open house where live images of the comet will be shown. In order to enable us to achieve this, and also to produce videos to be given out at the press conference, it is necessary to have three extended viewing periods. Apologies to Fast and SuperDARN (Cutlass) who have both lost coverage. I promise that extra coverage will be given to you, where possible, in future planning. Any changes have been highlighted with asterisks Thanks Nicky 86 0-6:10 whole oval - nightside if only partial possible 6:10-7:10 Comet Hale-Bopp 7:10-13 whole oval - nightside if only partial possible 17:30-20:30 noon - SuperDARN (K/S) conjunction 20:30-23:50 ~14 MLT - SuperDARN (K/S) conjunction *** 22:18-0 Comet Hale-Bopp 87 *** 0-02:18 Comet Hale-Bopp 2:18-7 whole oval - nightside if only partial possible SuperDARN (K/S) conjunction 11:30-15:55 whole oval - nightside if only partial possible SuperDARN (Cutlass) conjunction *** 15:55-20:00 Comet Hale-Bopp 20-0 midnight - SuperDARN (Cutlass) conjunction also possible EISCAT ESR conjunction ~22-0 UT 88 0-0:30 midnight - SuperDARN (Cutlass) conjunction 5-11 whole oval - dayside if only partial possible 11-12:05 Comet Hale-Bopp 12:05-18 nightside - Geotail flying across tail axis also Interball Tail reasonably well placed 22:30-0 nightside - Geotail flying across tail axis 89 0-4:55 nightside - Geotail flying across tail axis 4:55-5:25 Comet Hale-Bopp 5:25-12 nightside - Geotail flying across tail axis 16-22:30 22:30-23 Comet Hale-Bopp 23-0 midnight - Geotail well positioned in tail SuperDARN (GB/St) conjunction 90 0-5:30 midnight - Geotail well positioned in tail SuperDARN (GB/St) conjunction 10-14:54 nightside - Geotail well positioned in tail *** 14:54-17:54 Comet Hale-Bopp 17:54-23 nightside - IMP-8 well positioned in tail SuperDARN (Cutlass) conjunction 91 3:30-9:30 whole oval - dayside if only partial possible 9:30-10:30 Comet Hale-Bopp 10:30-16:30 whole oval - nightside if only partial possible IMP-8 and Interball reasonably placed in tail 21-0 whole oval - nightside if only partial possible 92 0-3:20 whole oval - nightside if only partial possible 3:20-3:51 Comet Hale-Bopp 3:51-10:30 whole oval - nightside if only partial possible 14:30-16:30 noon - SuperDARN (GB/St) conjunction 16:30-20:42 ~15 MLT - SuperDARN (GB/St) conjunction 20:42-21:42 Comet Hale-Bopp 21:42-0 midnight - SuperDARN (GB/St) conjunction PLEASE NOTE NEW EMAIL ADDRESS: NICOLA.FOX@GSFC.NASA.GOV Nicola J.
