Hands-on learning for future space explorers
LASP employs CU Boulder graduate students as Graduate Research Assistants. LASP faculty and researchers serve as their formal or informal supervisors and serve on graduate student committees. We employ graduate students from many CU Boulder programs, including:
- Aerospace Engineering Sciences (AES)
- Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences (APS)
- Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (ATOC)
- Chemistry (CHEM)
- Computer Science (CSCI)
- Earth Science (ERTH)
- Mechanical Engineering (MCEN)
- Physics (PHYS)
The graduate program in planetary and space sciences represents the largest group of LASP graduate students. The program is one of a small number that exist nationally and that provide students with hands-on experience developing spacecraft instrumentation or doing the first analysis of data returned from space-based instruments.
Procedures for graduate student recruitment, curriculum development, advising, and examination/assessment are controlled by CU Boulder’s academic departments and vary significantly among departments.
