Hands-on learning for future space explorers
LASP employs CU Boulder graduate students as Graduate Research Assistants. LASP faculty serve as their formal or informal supervisors and serve on graduate student committees. We employ graduate students from many CU Boulder programs, including:
- Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences
- Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences
- Geological Sciences
- Physics
- Aerospace Engineering Sciences
- Computer Sciences
- Mechanical Engineering
Procedures for graduate student recruitment, curriculum development, advising, and examination/assessment are controlled by departments and vary significantly between departments.
The graduate program in planetary and space sciences represents the largest group of LASP graduate students. The program is one of a small number that exist nationally and that provide students with hands-on experience developing spacecraft instrumentation or doing the first analysis of data returned from space-based instruments.
CU Boulder students may be eligible for a scholarship or fellowship in studies related to space research at LASP. See the links below and on the undergraduates page for additional information.
