The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) is a University of Colorado space research lab at the Boulder campus. As an Institute of CU-Boulder, LASP is at the international forefront of space science research in solar, planetary, atmospheric and space plasma physics. Job Summary

Are you passionate about exhibits that inform and tours that inspire? Join the LASP communications team to help us develop lobby exhibits and integrated tour components for a cutting-edge space science laboratory. The position will help the communications team develop innovative and creative exhibit signage that pairs physical exhibits and digital communications. They will also support development of technology-driven training and tour materials to standardize guided tours for various audiences.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of graphic design principles, exhibits and tours, digital communications, and videography. The candidate should have an understanding of visual and written composition in public engagement contexts. LASP is looking for someone with a passion for space science and communicating science to the public.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
The Exhibits & Tours Communications Intern supports LASP’s modernization of lobby exhibits and tour-guide training and materials. Key responsibilities include:

• Standardizing model signage with digital technology integration.
• Developing a structure for iPad-guided facility tours.
• Contributing input and ideas to long-term lobby update plans.
• Other duties as assigned.

Learning Outcomes

• Create creative solutions for tours and exhibits to support the lab’s ability to showcase its history and expertise.
• Collaborate with a team of communications and technical professionals to create informative and accessible material.

What We Require

• CU Boulder undergraduate student seeking a degree.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, etc.), WordPress or other CMS, and other collaboration/communication tools, such as Slack, Zoom, and related platforms.
• Onsite presence.
• Availability to work part-time during the AY and summer months.

What You Should Know

• Familiarity with or interest in museum or lobby exhibits.
• Capable of working in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

What You Will Need

• Strong design and basic technology skills.
• Excellent written, visual, video, and intrapersonal communication skills.
• Time management and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, including.
• Interest in science education and outreach Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
