The Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite – R Series Program (GOES-R+) is a key element of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) operations. The GOES-R+ series of satellites—which includes the R, S, T, and U satellites—is flying improved spacecraft and instrument technologies, for more timely and accurate weather forecasts. The program is improving the detection and observation of meteorological phenomena that directly affect public safety, protection of property, and economic health and development.
