Specializing in high-performance instrumentation

LASP has specialized in customized, high-performance instrumentation for space science research since 1948.  Our instruments have explored every planet in our solar system. LASP continues to push boundaries to provided innovative technology that enhances science return for the space science community.

LASP develops both remote-sensing and in-situ instruments for an impressive variety of space missions. In the space sciences, in situ means that an instrument directly measures the environment in which the satellite is embedded, such as energetic particles in the solar wind. Remote sensing, by contrast, provides data that are indirectly obtained by measuring reflected or emitted radiation from a distance, such as monitoring temperature changes on Earth using space-based cameras.
