Biography
Dr. David Malaspina is a space plasma physicist, exploring heliophysics phenomena through the data analysis-based study of plasma phenomena in the solar wind and planetary magnetospheres. Primary topics of study include plasma waves, kinetic-scale electric field structures, spacecraft charging, and hypervelocity impact plasmas. Dr. Malaspina designs, builds, and operates scientific instruments for spacecraft, focusing on the measurement of electric and magnetic fields. Dr. Malaspina mentors both undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds in aspects of space physics research ranging from data analysis to instrument design.
