Calibration
The SCC is a 2 degree field-of-view low-resolution imager that uses the same MCP detector as the SPRITE spectrograph, but not the eLiF coated optics. Instead, the SCC uses magnesium fluoride protected aluminum optics, which are well proven to be stable by many missions, including Hubble. By observing the same calibration star with both the SCC and the SPRITE spectrograph the team can track the relative signals to determine if the detector or the eLiF optics are changing over time.
