WAVE investigators published a paper entitled “Using vertical phase differences to better resolve 3D gravity wave structure”.

The paper develops a gravity wave analysis method that can identify and characterize high-intrinsic-frequency gravity waves in AIRS temperature retrievals. These high frequency waves with long vertical wavelengths are key to ITM impacts.  Previous methods limited vertical wavelengths to the depth of the AIRS data (<40km), but the new method extends this to vertical wavelengths up to 100km.
