Libera (Li’be-ra), named for the daughter of Ceres in ancient Roman mythology, provides continuity of the Clouds and the Earth’s Radiant Energy System (CERES) Earth radiation budget (ERB) observations. Our primary goal is to seamlessly extend the ERB record, essential for recognizing changes to Earth’s climate system and for constraining future predictions. We accomplish this by providing a well-calibrated and well-characterized instrument that leverages novel, cost-effective technologies and enables new science.
