Exploring new worlds

From probing the origins of water on the Moon and studying how Mars lost its atmosphere, to searching for conditions suitable for life on Jupiter’s icy moon Europa, researchers at LASP are leaders in exploring and understanding our solar system—and the unexplored realms beyond.

LASP instruments have studied every planet in our solar system, from their deep interiors to their rings and the distant influences of gravitational or magnetic fields far from the planet’s surface. Our scientists also study extreme environments on Earth as an analog for processes that may be occurring on other planets.
