IT Application and Database Administrator

Position Summary:

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics ﴾LASP﴿ is a dynamic, world‐renowned research facility  that is a notable contributor to many NASA programs. LASP is in need of an IT Application and Database  Administrator located at the University of Colorado‐Boulder East Research Park. As an IT Application and  Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the implementation and operation of on premises  database servers, as well as the implementation and management of full‐stack enterprise applications such  as SharePoint and OpenText BPM. You will collaborate with colleagues at all levels and in all functions to  continuously improve service experience.

Job Duties:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the databases supported by LASP IT ﴾both MS‐SQL and Oracle database﴿ are defined, deployed and maintained to provide performance required by the system﴾s﴿ using them.
  • Perform databases maintenance and upgrade activities as needed
  • Recommend databases solutions on structure and functional capabilities
  • Work with customers to understand workflow and data requirements to provide implement appropriate application solutions to meet those requirements
  • Work with customer to verify and test designed solution including error handling and reporting
  • Develop and provide documentation and initial training for solution users
  • Provide ongoing support as agreed to maintain and update designed application solutions

Required Qualifications:

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience managing MS‐SQL database servers in a production environment, including reporting and analysis tools
  • 2+ years of experience managing Oracle database servers in a production environment
  • 2+ years of experience managing SharePoint in a production environment
  • 2+ years of experience in customer facing application development and support
  • Experience in process design, business reporting or requirements gathering
  • Familiarity with ITIL or service management methodologies
  • Familiarity with Farm, Site, and System roles of Microsoft SharePoint
  • Familiarity with OpenText MBPM, K2 Appit or other workflow platforms
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

  • Direct experience with OpenText MBPM, K2 Appit or other workflow platforms
  • Direct experience with Farm, Site, and System roles of Microsoft SharePoint
  • Strong experience in process design, business reporting or requirements gathering
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
