Opening Reception

You may not know it, but Flagstaff is an Astrotourism Destination! Flagstaff was named the world’s first International Dark Sky City in October 2001.

As a special treat, Lowell Observatory has agreed to host our Welcoming Reception on Monday, October 16th. The observatory overlooks historic downtown Flagstaff, which is 128 years old, older than Arizona itself! Lowell Observatory houses advanced and historic telescopes, including the 5th largest optical telescope in the continental United States! Exhibits include the 24” Clark Refractor Telescope, the Giovale Open Deck Observatory, the Pluto Discovery Telescope and the 24” Dyer Telescope. Join us for a special night of stargazing and catching up with colleagues!

Our reception will include hors d’oeuvres and drinks, as well as access to the Observatory. This event will take the place of scheduled tours for this year’s Symposium.

Reservations will be cut off on September 14th,
so please make your reservations early!

Please register for the conference by using the following registration link. You may go back in to register for the science buffet dinner at a later time should you need to pay with a different payment method.

 

Science Dinner

Our science dinner will be buffet-style at the 1899 Ballroom in the NAH Conference Center. We plan to have a Park Ranger from the Grand Canyon as our guest speaker. The dinner menu will consist of the following unless we have a last-minute menu change:

Winter and Harvest Salads
Prime Rib and Turkey carving station
Mashed Red Potatoes and Rice Pilaf
Broccoli and Squash
Cheesecake and Shortcake
