Modes
Timas modes select varying combinations of mass/energy/angle/temporal resolution using the data products noted above. Since not all data products can be transmitted every spin, the main feature of a Timas mode is an Instrument Control Parameter (ICP) table that defines characteristics of Timas on board science data products and sets the priority order for transmitting these data products. The ICP table spcifies the (possibly different) priority of each data product in 32 succesive spin periods. Data are collected, processed, and put into the telemetry stream using the ICP table. Lack of data, telemetry space, or processesing power terminate the processing in each spin period. The 32 spin period is called the super spin period.
For more detailed information see the on-line Instrument operations and data acquistion discussion.
